Only rarely is an artist given the opportunity to create a truly monumental and lasting work of art. The Official Holy Year Medallion™ was not only an artistic challenge but a personal odyssey into my own beliefs. For this work I drew upon my almost thirty years experience as a professional artist, as well as many ancient examples in the Vatican Treasury. My objective was to create a charged emotional response in those who view the medal. I am honored to have been chosen as the official medallist for this major commission. Illustrated is the first striking, SN 001-777, presented to His Holiness Pope John Paul II on October 16, 2000.
